I'm newly engaged, and my fiancé was having a tough time picking out a wedding band for me because I don't wear any jewelry. Yesterday she told me that since I'm not into jewelry, she wanted to go the creative route with my wedding band, so shes having the band custom made out of raced used carbon fiber from a Formula 1 car! The person who is making the ring even has the serial numbers from the car it was used on (will update when I find out the details all I know right now that is that it's from a Red Bull car). So aside from that being the best idea ever for a car guy/Formula 1 fan, I need to provide some input to the design. The problem is, I'm not a big fan of any of the CF ring designs that I have seen. Anyone have any ideas?

that's badass.
See if she can get the serial number of the car inscribed on the inside of the ring!
Also, I'd go with something on dark titanium. It poses a risk if you're prone to weight fluctations though because it won't be sizable. Titanium is so damn strong they don't do re-sizes.
It really depends on the pattern of the CF you're getting though.

I have a titanium and carbon fiber wedding band. I figure it was cool to add lightness.

Or you could have a ring that looks like a tire.

Dude, hook me up with some linkage, my wife wants to get new rings. She found some Hawaiian wood men's wedding bands that I was pretty set on, but this would be over the top.

Here is mine. Fairly plain, but I like it.

Congrats!! And I guess it depends on the type of weave you have, but I like the look of this one, the black setting blends with the weave and makes it a bit more understated:
ALSO IMPORTANT PSA: If you are not already aware, either get it set in an adamantium-strong band or preferably just take it off before you do anything mechanically inclined because degloving injuries are the stuff of nightmares.

Getting the S/N inscribed would be wicked. If it is a RBR car, and Seb's, you could get the car name as well. "Hungry Heidi" would rule!

That would be cool, I saw a silver ring done like that with the STi badge in the middle.

Thanks! I have only seen one picture of the piece of CF that is to be used, and its a bad pic so I'm not sure of the weave. Good advice, I really like the look of the raw carbon fiber but obviously that would get damaged the first time I grazed it on something.

A friend of mine had his wedding ring custom made to look like a piston. It has the piston rings, the pin holes, and the rounded cutouts near the bottom. He had tossed around the idea of getting a tattoo of a connecting rod from his knuckle to the place where the ring would sit, but hasn't committed to that quite yet

This is why I only wear my wedding ring for job interviews and special occasions.

As many times as he's crashed it's probably a piece of maldonado's car

My buddy got married last year and I believe his band is tungsten so it just breaks if he were to get his hand in any sort of situation.

Haha right! It looked like a bushing of some kind. I can't wait to find out.
